En el marco del Día Internacional de la Madre Tierra, los integrantes del proyecto Guardianes del Planeta, de la sección de primaria, y los Vigías Ambientales, de la sección Junior, participaron en una valiosa experiencia de aprendizaje en el Humedal Torca-Guaymaral, organizada por la Secretaría Distrital de Ambiente y Centro Comercial Bima.

Durante la jornada, los estudiantes desarrollaron actividades de limpieza, observación e identificación de especies, experiencias que les permitieron comprender de manera directa la riqueza de este ecosistema y reconocer los desafíos que enfrenta su conservación. Esta vivencia fortaleció su papel como agentes de cambio comprometidos con la protección del medioambiente.

Asimismo, la actividad promovió una reflexión profunda sobre la conexión entre todos los seres vivos y la urgencia de transformar nuestras formas de habitar y convivir con el planeta. En este camino esperanzador, nuestros niños y jóvenes se reconocen como semillas de una nueva humanidad, capaces de construir un mundo más justo, en paz y en armonía con la naturaleza.

Como parte de esta conmemoración, se impulsarán acciones concretas como la propagación del árbol de tinto para su siembra en el Humedal Guaymaral y el fortalecimiento del arbolado del colegio, contribuyendo así al corredor ecológico del que nuestra comunidad hace parte.

Seeds of Change in Action: Children and Youth Protect the Torca-Guaymaral Wetland

As part of International Mother Earth Day, members of the Guardians of the Planet project from the Primary section and the Environmental Stewards from the Junior section took part in a meaningful learning experience at the Torca-Guaymaral Wetland, organized by the District Secretariat of Environment and Bima Shopping Center.

During the day, students engaged in clean-up, observation, and species identification activities, allowing them to directly experience the richness of this ecosystem and better understand the challenges involved in its conservation. This experience strengthened their role as agents of change committed to environmental stewardship.

The activity also encouraged meaningful reflection on the interconnectedness of all living beings and the urgent need to transform the way we live in harmony with our planet. Along this hopeful path, our children and young people recognize themselves as seeds of a new humanity, capable of building a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.

As part of this commemoration, concrete actions will be promoted, including the propagation of the tinto tree for planting in the Guaymaral Wetland and the strengthening of the school’s tree cover, contributing to the ecological corridor of which our community is proudly a part.
